TODAY'S FLOWERS - My Birthday Tree

My how time flies . . .

A month ago I was afraid my birthday tree
- this flowering cherry -
would forget to flower for the second time in 43 years
but, hey presto, the first flower did open on the day, while the
rest of the tree was still in tight bud.

During the next week, buds kept unfurling to the very
top of the tree

scented and pretty, it was covered in pink ruffles and furbelows

in cascades of of sheer beauty.

It has been a beautiful spring indeed.

Wild Bird Wednesday - Snake Time and Kookaburras

The temperatures are rising so watch out for snakes!
Time for boots, loose trousers and Kookaburras.
So lucky they like snakes for lunch.

I was lucky to have a pair serenade me right in front of my
bedroom door. Even so, I was not quick enough to capture both.

Don't you just love the monk's cap to cover his bald spot?

I'll be posting birds occasionally when they visit me since I have
been tied by the heels and am unable to visit them for a while yet.

OUT WORLD - Old Timers out for an airing

While at the village to have my legs re-bandaged,
I spied these delightful Old Timers parked outside
the local bakery.

They were obviously having an outing for the day.
One of the beauties of living here, is the proximity
of a major motor museum in the next little township.

Normally these little jobs are at the museum for
insurance reasons but now and again, their owners
take them out for a run.

They were great favourites in the 1950's of young
people short of cash, in particular new arrivals displaced
by WW ll in Europe, who would save up their meagre
incomes working for the minimum wage on their two
year contracts and get things like a 1927 Nash or a Ford
to impress the girls.

Now of course, they are worth a fortune.

TODAY'S FLOWERS - Tulips

Hallo friends all, it's been a long time since I posted.

Fate took a hand and stuck a spoke in my wheel and followed it
up with letting down my tyres as well.

Not only was my internet down until a few days ago but I also
found that severe pain was not conducive to posting anything
filled with sweetness and light.

Here are a few tulips I planted this winter, that added a little cheer
through this rather tough time.

A few more on the other side of the carport

and a pot full that looked rather splendid.

I have just one more clump to surprise me with their colour.

I sincerely hope you have all been well in my absence and will
endeavour to visit as many as I can in the coming weeks while
I am still getting over this and that.
